Why Spring cleaning counts for small pets.
It’s coming round to the time of year when Spring Cleaning appears on the calendar. It is a chore, but for small pets like rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters, it is particularly important. Nick Thomas, resident expert at
www.smallanimaladvice.com and Pet Health advisor at Supreme Petfoods explains the ins and outs of Spring Cleaning:
Grooming is Great
Pests and mites are the last thing anyone wants in their home. Unfortunately it’s our loveable pets that are sometimes unwittingly responsible for unwanted guests. Grooming is one simple answer to keeping grim pest guests away. It’s a nice way to spend some time with your pet too. Regular contact is important to keep pets happy with being handled – and it also allows you to keep an eye out for problems, too.
Hygienic Hutches:
The next step to keeping things spick and span is to have a hutch or cage cleaning regime. Make it simple and keep it quick so it does not become a chore. The right products will help in this. It’s important not to use cleaners intended for use around the home as they can be unsafe. A specialist disinfectant, such as Supreme Anti-Bac+ is gentle for pets but hard on dirt and bugs.
And so to Bed…
If you can make clearing up after your pet less messy and pongy, it becomes an easier job. Try a specialist product like Carefresh Bedding. This super absorbent bedding can cope with up to 3 times its original weight in moisture and also controls odours too. It makes cleaning cages and hutches a more pleasant task – one that you might even be able to delegate to the children.
